Fun. Challenge. Friends

Whether it’s meeting new friends in your community and beyond, having fun while building self-confidence through experiences in leadership and teamwork, or taking on challenging opportunities in aerospace including learning how to fly a plane cadets can… and at no cost to join!

Experiences you can’t get anywhere else

Whether part of our weekly meeting night, over a training weekend, or as part of optional programming you can participate in, 18 Dartmouth Lions offers amazing experiences youth can’t get anywhere else. Delivered in partnership with the Canadian Armed Forces and the Air Cadet League of Canada, we are a federally-funded program that aims to prepare youth for their future no matter the path they choose!

In addition to developing self-confidence, foster good citizenship, and helping to increase awareness in the Royal Canadian Air Force its role and capability, 18 Dartmouth Lions specializes in the following:

Our cadets

As a peer-led community program for youth, our cadets lead. Through a progressive training program that aims to instill positive military values – such as respecting others, service before self, and excellence – we aim to leave a positive life-long impact by allowing our cadets to lead our activities, developing critical life skills such as teamwork, self-confidence, how to teach, and much more.

Our staff team

Our program is administered by a blended team of Canadian Armed Forces personnel, civilian instructors, and other community volunteers. Our instructors and military personnel are fully screened, while our Cadet Instructor Cadre officers are Canadian Armed Forces Reservists specifically trained in the delivery of the cadet program and supervision of youth.
